The attached commit lifts out the general strategy so that it can be reused by other collection types amenable to splitting.</p> <p><a href="http://dev.clojure.org/jira/browse/CLJ-993" title="`range` reducer">CLJ-993</a> depends on this patch, as it uses the new fold-by-halves function.</p> CLJ-1045
